Charlotte Harrison, BA(Hons), DipArch(UCL), RIBA, MA, graduated from the Bartlett in 1999. Charlotte co-organised an international festival of architecture in Leeds before joining Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects, where she ran projects for Shelter and the Barbican Arts Centre.
Together with Glen McGowan she formed mass architecture in 2004 in London and moved to York in 2009.
Charlotte has been a design tutor and lecturer in 20th Century Theory of Architecture at Universities in London, Leeds and Sheffield.

Making an appraisal of what is important (significant) about a particular building and why. This is required in order to know how changes ought to be made (if at all) to an historic building
Public consultation / Community engagement
Helping to communicate to and engage the individuals or groups that live/work near to a place where a new building/facility is being proposed
Development appraisals
Looking at the scope of what can potentially be built on a given piece of land and what this might provide in terms of a return on investment
Developing design proposals
This can be through a range of media such as sketches, models and computer generated images
Applying for statutory approvals
Planning applications, listed building applications, building control applications. Planning Appeals
Appointing consultants
Advising on and appointing any other consultants specifically required. For example, structural and building services engineers, cost consultants and energy consultants
Preparing construction information
Producing technical construction drawings, schedules and specifications
Obtaining tenders for building work
Drawing up a list of appropriate tenderers and overseeing the tendering process
Administering a building contract
Administering the building contract between the client and the builder to ensure that both parties are fulfilling their respective duties
Personal InterestsCharlotte is currently training for the Paris Marathon in April 2015, she has enjoyed long distance running for over 6 years and has braved the cold and wet on many a dark winter’s morning to pound the streets and fields around York. Her favourite place to run is the North York Moors.
Charlotte is also interested in philosophy but isn’t quite sure what it all means yet!
